Receiving Notifications
Once you are set up, push notifications arrive on your lock screen whenever the announcer triggers a call for an event you subscribed to. A typical notification reads:
Final call for the Girls 11 to 12 year old 800 meter run. Athletes please report to the staging area.
You do not need to have the app open to receive notifications. Tapping a notification opens the app directly to your My Alerts tab.
While the App is Open
If you already have the app open when a call is sent, a banner appears at the top of the screen so the alert is not silently missed. Tap the banner to go directly to your My Alerts tab, or tap X to dismiss it.
Staff Roles in the App
SecondCall uses a single app for everyone. If you are a PA announcer or operations staff member, you can unlock role-specific push notifications inside the same app you are reading about here.
On the Info tab, tap the Announcer & Operations card and enter the access code provided by your meet director. This connects your device to receive push notifications for your role, such as incoming event requests for announcers or stale request escalations for operations staff.
For full setup and usage instructions, see the Announcer guide or Operations guide.
Multi-Day Meets
Alert subscriptions apply to the meet as a whole, not individual sessions or days. You set up your alerts once and they remain active for the duration of the meet.
