Getting Started

Before the Meet

When your meet director publishes the meet, SecondCall sends them a preparation email with a forwardable block for announcers. If your director sends that along, it will include a direct link with your access code already embedded and a quick overview of what to expect.

Keep the link somewhere accessible. It will open directly to your dashboard without needing to type anything, and you can reopen it any time if you close the tab. Your director can also share the link directly or show you a QR code that does the same thing.

Important: Your link includes your access code and provides direct access to meet operations. Keep it to yourself. If it gets into the wrong hands, your meet director can revoke the code immediately. If that happens, your session will be invalidated and you will need a fresh link from your director before you can continue.

Note: Your access code is specific to this meet. It stops working when the meet director closes the meet.

Preview mode: If your director shares your link before the meet goes live, you may land on a dashboard in Preview mode. You can log in, explore the event list, and get familiar with the interface. Call buttons will be disabled until the meet is active. No action is needed on your part. The dashboard switches automatically when the meet goes live.

Signing In

Tap your link. You will land on a sign-in page with your access code already filled in. Tap Access Dashboard to proceed.

Connecting to the App for Push Alerts

The Connect to App button in the top right of your dashboard is optional but recommended, especially if you will be stepping away from the PA table during the meet or are concerned about spotty wifi at the facility.

Connecting links your announcer code to the SecondCall app on your phone so that every incoming request triggers a push notification in your pocket. Tap the notification and it opens your announcer dashboard directly in your phone's browser.

To connect:

  1. Tap Connect to App in the dashboard header.
  2. If you do not have the SecondCall app installed, follow the prompt to download it. It is free and requires no account setup.
  3. Once the app is open, your announcer code will be pre-filled. Tap to sign in.
  4. You will be taken to the alerts setup screen. Select the announcer alert category and confirm.

Once connected, you will receive a push notification for every new incoming request from an official. You will also receive alerts when a request reaches the aging and urgent thresholds. See Incoming Requests for details on stale request escalation.

This setup means you can manage the full meet from your phone if needed, but the dashboard works equally well on a laptop, desktop, or tablet at the PA table.
